Having made the decision to pursue a career in property I was keen to work for a large organisation which would offer me a range of options with regards to my career path. CBRE was therefore the natural choice.
Having joined the Graduate Scheme in 2005 I am now an Associate Director within the City Agency team, acquiring and disposing of office property within the City of London. As CBRE has a substantial market I have been able to work on high profile projects which would not be possible at other firms. In addition I have been given the responsibility of running and managing my own projects which has provided me with invaluable experience. All of this has greatly benefited my career development.
The variety of the job is a big part of its appeal, as is the fact that you’re given exposure to the firm’s major clients from an early stage in your career; CBRE prizes the knowledge of client businesses highly and the best way to get it is by working very closely with them.
Overall, the work/life balance that a career in property offers, combined with the opportunities and rewards available at CBRE, make this an enjoyable and exciting place to be.
My career tip to all new graduates would be to keep an open mind as to where you might want to end up within the business. CBRE offers an incredibly diverse range of services which suit a range of personalities and it is worth getting to know as many people as you can to find the area that suits you best.
